My approach to Pilates is influenced most by my life as a dancer and my own experience with a chronic autoimmune condition.
I grew up dancing competitively from the age of two—ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, you name it. I’ve always felt a connection to movement on a cellular level. I moved to NYC at 18 to pursue my dream of dancing professionally. When I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and stage 3 Kidney Disease, my whole life paused. You give up so much of your power in those moments—to your doctors, medications, symptoms, insurance. And, most critically, to your body.
Very slowly, I came to regain that power. It’s a long imperfect tale of alkaline cleanses, herbs, acupuncture, energy work, adaptogens, meditations, sound baths, floral tapping, CBD, cryotherapy, crystals, laughter, tears, jobs left, leaps taken, wanders lusted, globes trotted…
Movement was a significant piece of my healing process. When you are unconscious of your movement, or too busy to move, or in too much pain, your brain disconnects from your body.
Pilates provided me with systemic relief as well as a deeper connection to my body. It centered my mind and gave me the ability to fully re-take control of my health. It continues to teach me everyday about what it means to heal.
I completed my instructor certification in 2018 with Erika Bloom, who I am incredibly honored to call a mentor. My expertise includes comprehensive mat and apparatus training in both classical and contemporary style, as well as Pilates for pre & post natal, scoliosis, neurological conditions, hip/knee/foot/back pain, osteoporosis, myofascial release and restoring balance & body reading.
I feel passionate about helping people move better in their bodies and sharing the power of purposeful movement. They say “do what sets your soul on fire” and Pilates just so happens to burn up my soul, ass, abs, and arms.
My sessions begin with taking a moment to quiet the everyday NYC noise and find your unique breath, balance, and rhythm. We'll work together to create a customized plan, identifying any patterns of repetition that are causing you discomfort/pain or keeping you from unlocking your desired results.
And we’ll have fun. Because I’m fun.
